Safety Tips to ensure a safe Fourth of July Celebration


As the Fourth of July approaches, it is a time of celebration, fireworks, and gatherings with loved ones. To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone, it is crucial to prioritize safety in your festivities. This guide provides tips for handling fireworks, enjoying water activities, grilling, and responsible drinking. Most importantly, have a great Fourth of July!


  • Never Allow young children to handle fireworks.

  • Keep a strong water source nearby to extinguish any potential fires.

  • Light fireworks one at a time and maintain a safe distance.

  • Make sure other flammable materials are kept at a safe distance.

  • Soak both used and untouched fireworks for a few hours before disposal.

  • Instead of sparklers for children, consider these.

    • Glow sticks, confetti cannon or poppers, colorful streamers, silly string.

  • Never operate fireworks under the influence of alcohol.

  • Look up firework restrictions in your area before planning on any fireworks.

  • Firework violations will be prosecuted to the fullest extent.

Boating and Swimming Safety

  • Always wear life jackets when swimming, regardless of skill level or comfort

  • Always supervise children when they are in or near water

  • Ensure everyone knows how to swim and never swim alone

  • Be aware of local water conditions and follow safety guidelines

  • Never drink and drive, boats or any recreational vehicles

  • Keep a first aid kit nearby pools or on the boat


BBQ Safety

  • Keep grills at least 10 feet away from your house or other flammable materials.

  • Never leave the grill unattended while in use.

  • Use long-handled tools to avoid burns.

  • Keep a fire extinguisher or a water source nearby.


Drinking Safety

  • If you plan to drink alcohol, do so responsibly

  • never operate fireworks or a grill under the influence of alcohol.

  • Plan Ahead: There are plenty of ways to avoid drinking and driving, Designated drivers, Ride services, and taxis. Remember, drinking and driving is not only a crime, but is extremely dangerous for both yourself and others.
